The ARK7960 series of towed targets provides a low cost solution for performance evaluation and calibration of shipborne Close In Weapons Systems (CIWS). These compact targets are designed as centre of gravity tows with an all up ballasted weight of 13.6 kg and exhibit exceptional stability when towed on both short and long tow cables by either remotely piloted or manned aircraft.

The ARK7960 has two variants:

ARK 7960 Target provides passive augmentation in I,J and K bands using a Lüneberg lens in addition to an acoustic Miss Distance Indicator.

ARK7961 Target provides passive augmentation in the I, J and K bands using a Lüneberg lens.

The ARK7960 provides distance of miss and sector angle measurement of supersonic projectiles for both single and multishot engagements. Compact and fully ruggedised, the onboard equipment consists of a Piezo electric sensor assembly, processor, telemetry transmitter and battery pack. In operation the projectile shockwave is sensed, processed and transmitted in real time to the ARK7959 Base Station located up to 50 km distant.
